What Is Tandem IVF?

“Tandem IVF” refers to any coordinated fertility strategy involving two sets of eggs or cycles run in parallel or sequentially.

Tandem Egg Cycle (Patient + Donor):
Your own eggs and donor eggs are retrieved and fertilized during the same treatment window. This approach lets you try with your own genetic material while also having donor embryos as backup—saving time and maximizing chances for a healthy pregnancy.
Tandem IVF Cycles (Dual Cycle Strategy):
Two full stimulation cycles are performed consecutively or synchronously, either to bank more embryos or to combine fresh and frozen transfers within one program.

Our doctors carefully align your and the donor’s menstrual cycles using hormonal therapy so egg retrieval occurs on the same day. For dual cycle patients, medication protocols are timed to allow continuous retrievals with minimal downtime.

Embryo Selection & PGT-A Testing

After five days, the most viable blastocysts are chosen for transfer. Optional PGT-A testing checks chromosomal normality, so only healthy embryos are transferred.

Ovarian Stimulation & Retrieval

Low to moderate doses of gonadotropins encourage multiple egg maturation. Each retrieval is performed under sedation in our certified operating suite with the same embryology team present for both collections.

Embryo Transfer & Freezing

Depending on results, your doctor may transfer the best embryo from your own cycle or the donor cycle. Remaining embryos are vitrified for future use.
